5G Troubleshooting Guide

This is a collection of problems that some people run into during a 5G setup. Before going forward, please make sure your FreedomFi is up to date on the newest firmware. You can do this by visiting http://freedomfi-gateway.local on the same network as your FreedomFi, then press "update gateway".

  • Make sure the POE injector is connected properly. On the poe injector the POE port will go to the antenna, and the LAN port will go to the FreedomFi.
  • Unplug the antenna from the POE injectors, POE port for 5 minutes and plug it back in, wait 30 minutes to see if the radios appear in the dashboard.
  • If the radio is still not showing up after 30 minutes, give it 24hours of waiting to see if it appears.
  • If after waiting 24 hours the radio is still not there, you will need to submit a ticket to FreedomFi here: https://freedomfi.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/1/group/6/create/12
  • Make sure the included POE injector is being used and the antenna cable is going into the POE port on the POE injector and not the LAN port.
  • Unplug the antenna from the POE injectors, POE port for 5 minutes and plug it back in, wait a couple minutes to see if the lights come on.

  • If are still no lights, please open a ticket with FreedomFi here: https://freedomfi.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/1/group/6/create/12
  • Make sure the radio has a clear line of sight view of the sky, installing under a roof could cause issues locking on.
  • Unplug the antenna from the POE injectors, POE port for 5 minutes and plug it back in, check every couple hours to see if it has locked on.

  • If it's still not locked on after 24 hours, please open a ticket with FreedomFi here: https://freedomfi.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/1/group/6/create/12
  • This is just a visual bug, you should still be able to view the radios in the dashboard. If not. Unplug the antenna from the POE injectors, POE port for 5 minutes and plug it back in, check every couple minutes to see if they appeared.
  • You need to get your radios approved before they will earn mobile tokens. If you have not gone through this process you can find out how, here: https://heliumdeploy.io/blogs/news/freedomfi-5g-hotspot-setup
  • You've got the radios approved and still nothing? It can take up to 48 hours after approval before earning tokens.
  • Tokens get rewarded once per day around 11pm EST give or take.

Notice how the ear piece is pointing towards where the antenna aims.

  • In the FreedomFi dashboard: http://freedomfi-gateway.local press "reset cloud connection" then wait 5 minutes, then press "restart miner" check back in an hour it should be active again.

Can you use Cat8 lines instead of Cat6? or does it have to be Cat6 only?

I’m having a great deal of trouble finding an installer can someone help me with doing so.
